WALN provides input to the State Soil Health Strategy

WALN has recently prepared a submission to Stage 1 of the consultation process for the State Soil Health Strategy.

Our submission on the Soil Health Strategy Discussion Paper informed by community member input is available here – http://www.landcarewa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/WALN-SubSoilsStrategyDiscussionPaper6Aug2020.pdf.

The Soil and Landcare Conservation Council (SLCC) has invited public comment on a Soil Health Strategy for Western Australia.  A two staged consultation is underway:

  • Stage 1 – Release a SLCC Soil Health Discussion Paper, with the purpose of engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to determine goals and principles and prioritise key actions. Submissions closed Thursday 6 August.
  • Stage 2 – Release a draft Soil Health Strategy for wider consultation, then make revisions based on input from stakeholders and the public before releasing the final strategy.

WALN will engage in Stage 2 of the consultation process – your input is sought.

WALN also facilitated a discussion on the topic of soil health and the proposal State Strategy at its Landcare Checks In session on Monday 3 August. The Zoom recording and discussion notes are available for those interested here. http://www.landcarewa.org.au/resources/landcare-checks-in-online-chat-about-landcare/
