Trillion Trees has inspiring global vision to plant one trillion trees

Trillion Trees is inspiring landcarers across WA to contribute to a global challenge to plant one trillion trees.

At the recent WALN Members and Stakeholders Forum, Trillion Trees CEO, Sandra Krempl wowed landcarers with the Trillion Tree challenge – ‘Help us plant a Trillion Trees  – If the 7.5+ billion people on this planet planted 140 trees each, we will have planted 1 Trillion Trees!’

With a recent rebadging from Men of the Trees to Trillion Trees in 2017, the not for profit organisation now active in many countries,  brings people together to plant and grow trees, and to achieve healthy, productive, sustainable landscapes.

Active in Western Australia since 1979, the society’s more than 2000 members and volunteers collectively grow and plant tens of thousands of trees in a season and have been responsible for planting more than 15 million native trees & understory to improve biodiversity, combat salinity and soil erosion.

Trillion Trees has calculated that Western Australian communities should plant 350 million trees in the coming decades to assist with the Trillion Tree challenge. They have calculated that ‘an organisation with 20 people would aim to plant 2,800 trees. That is doable!’.

One of Trillion Tree’s key goals is to champion biodiversity plantings across WA and the organisation offers a range of opportunities for landcare groups and individual to partner to achieve tree planting goals.

Visit the Trillion Trees website to learn more about how landcare groups and individuals can assist to achieve the new Trillion Trees vision.
