How can I fund my landcare project?
Perth NRM Grant Writing Workshop 2 – Dan Friesen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FNZYlR79UU
Dan Friesen has been a highly successful grant-writer at the South East Regional Council for Urban Landcare (SERCUL), providing direct assistance to many community groups. In this presentation, he shows us how to get the most out of your application by ensuring your project shows clear links to the funding guidelines, and how to use your budget to really explain your project.
State NRM Community Stewardship Grants
These grants support community-based projects that serve to protect and restore the local environment. They are a component of the State NRM Program, an initiative of the Western Australian Government and support the Western Australian Natural Resource Management Framework 2018.

National Landcare Program – Regional Land Partnerships
From July 2018, the Regional Land Partnerships component of the National Landcare Program will invest $450 million over five years to deliver national priorities at a regional and local level. At least 20 per cent of the project budget in each Management Unit will be used for supporting on-ground projects and related activities that are delivered by, or directly engage with, the local landcare community. Contact your Regional NRM Group for more information.

National Landcare Program – Smart Farms Small Grants
The Federal Government has allocated $134 million under the Smart Farms Program to support the development and uptake of best practice, tools and technologies that help farmers, fishers, foresters and regional communities improve the protection, resilience and productive capacity of our soils, water and vegetation, in turn supporting successful primary industries and regional communities.
LotteryWest Community Grants
Lotterywest offer a range of grants for various projects that make a difference to the local community. The grant process is ongoing (i.e. no specific closing dates). Protected Sustainable Ecosystems is one of the 5 priority areas of funding.

Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)
FRRR is the only national organisation offering small, discretionary funds to small regional communities across Australia. We are both a grant maker and a grant seeker – distributing funds through a number of programs for the benefit of rural and regional Australia. We play a critical role as a connector, working across the philanthropic sector as a conduit for philanthropy to rural communities.
Fund Landcare
A new way for Landcare groups to fundraise. Landcare Australia has established a fundraising platform designed with the Landcarer in mind. It allows Landcare groups to create campaigns and raise funds by using Landcare Australia’s DGS status.

Crowd Funding
Why not try crowd funding to raise landcare funds. If your community is passionate about getting the job done try a local crowdfunding campaign. There are a range of crowd funding sites available including:
www.chuffed.org and www.gofundme.com.
Local government
Why not approach your local government authority and see if you can work in with one of their environment programs or motivate your community to lobby for a local government Environment Fund to support local landcare efforts in your area.
Local business
Business sponsorship and partnerships can make landcare happen. Many businesses want to help support their local environment and community. Why not approach a local business to support your work.
