Join WALGA for this fantastic opportunity to hear about the overarching legislation and strategies that provide a framework for coordinated weed management, the latest approaches in integrated weed management, and risk assessment and mitigation for weed control methods. Information will be relevant to both metropolitan and regional land managers.

Expert speakers include representatives from the City of South Perth, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Denmark Weed Action Group, Local Government Insurance Scheme and WALGA.

The program will cover:

• provisions of the Biosecurity and Agricultural Management Act 2007 and the management of declared pest species
• minimising the ecological impact of weeds through identification and management of priority and ‘alert’ species
• benefits and challenges of alternative weed control methods, such as thermal (steam) and organic treatments
• the impact of fire on weeds, post-fire weed control principles and contingency planning for treatment following bushfire
• weed mapping and monitoring, and the importance of data to inform effective management strategies
• community perceptions of different weed control methods, and risk mitigation methods
• WALGA’s newly established Parks and Gardens preferred supplier panel and the weed management services available
