At a Gala Awards Ceremony at The Marina Mindarie on Thursday 3 October the Western Australian landcare community celebrated the best in landcare in the 2019 WA Landcare Awards.
The WA Landcare Awards profile individuals and groups from urban and rural communities who are working together to care for our country.
For over 20 years, the Landcare Awards have recognised and celebrated the achievements of groups and individuals in the landcare community who have made a significant contribution to the environment, sustainable farming practices and natural resource management. This prestigious awards program acknowledges landcare projects that are focused on sustainable farming, biodiversity and conservation, community endeavour and wellbeing, Indigenous land management, coastcare, youth participation and leadership.
This year 36 nominations were received in the nine awards categories honouring the valuable contributions of community groups, schools, organisations, indigenous land managers and individuals throughout Western Australia.
Thank you to all the award sponsors – Landcare Australia, the Australian Government, Virgin Australia, Woolworths, Australian Community Media and Austcover. Thank you also to Plantrite Wholesale Nursery and Native Plants who provided a huge number of native plants as decoration for Awards Ceremony venue and then allowed all of the guests to take them home – amazing sponsorship for the event.
Congratulations to all the winners in the nine 2019 WA Landcare Award categories.
